Sam walked around yet another pile of old rusted cars in Bobby’s salvage yard and froze at the sight of Jessica standing before him, beautiful as ever.

“Jess,” he whispered.

“You could have saved me,” the spirit told him sadly.

“I’m so sorry.”

“If you had told me about your family, showed me how to protect myself, I may still be alive today. We could have had a life together, Sam. Gotten married, started a family.”

Tears flowed freely down Sam’s cheeks as Jessica’s spirit moved towards him. “I tried, Jess. It was too late.”

“All you had to do was tell me the truth, Sam. You never told me the truth!” she yelled before lunging towards him. Sam swung the iron bar at the spirit and watched it disappeared.

“I’m sorry,” he whispered one last time.
